Crew-Cab Ranchero: 1980 Ford LTD

Image
As 2018 draws to a close and 2019 rapidly approaches, each and every person has a new set of goals and projects to achieve and conquer. For myself, my main goal is to obtain my driver's license and to help my dad finish putting in the two garages we began building (the one garage is built and currently housing my late friend's 1940 Chevy; it only needs the concrete floor to be poured. The other garage that will house the lift needs to still be built). When both goals are accomplished, I hope to help my dad sell a few cars (1994 Caprice 9C1, 1984 Camaro Z28 Autoform roadster, 1978 Dodge Tradesman 200 van, 1976 Chevy G30 RV, all of which are currently for sale by the way) and focus on his (1986 Corvette, 1967 Cadillac De Ville convertible, 1979 Trans Am), my brother's (1984 Camaro and 1993 GMC K2500), and my own (1981 LeBaron Salon and 1995 Caprice Classic station wagon) projects. Despite our downsizing and prioritizing projects, I couldn't help but check out this 1980...

Blue Oval Soul Survivor: 1938 Ford Sedan

Image
It's hard to believe this next statement, but in a few years it'll be 90 years since the decade of the 1930s. The 1930s were a rough time for the United States with the Great Depression and Prohibition era taking place, but I will say the automobiles during that time were fine. Though I usually don't prefer products from the Blue Oval, this 1938 Ford sedan is definitely a car I would drive, and this car is said to be a largely original survivor. Find it here on eBay in Pellham, Alabama, with reserve not met. After a minor facelift in 1937, Ford's passenger-car line continued with very little changes. The Deluxe models of the passenger-car lineup gained a new heart-shaped grille, which this 1938 Ford suicide-door four-door sedan has. One of 92,020 Deluxe Fordor sedans built for 1938, this Deluxe Fordor is said to be mostly in original condition. Resplendent in black, the car was bought by the seller from the ...

Sweet Like Candy: 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

Image
Coming up on Tuesday, Halloween will be upon us. While this Halloween my focus will be on two of my wisdom teeth being removed, as a kid, Halloween used to be my favorite holiday. I always had great Halloween costumes (Ronald McDonald, Fat Albert, Mr. T, Aunt Jemima, Urkel, Keith Richards, Homer Simpson, Walking Dead zombie, etc.), and the candy I got trick-or-treating was always the best. While this 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback may be a bit too big for regular trick-or-treaters, this one's equipped with a big block engine and four-speed manual transmission, which is certainly a treat for collectors. Find it here on eBay in New Lebanon, Ohio, with the current bid at $17,101 and a little less than six hours left to bid. Facing stiff and an increasing amount of competition from General Motors and Mopar, Ford redesigned its proverbial pony-car for 1967. The Mustang as a result became longer and bigger, but still shared a ...

Former Dry Lakes and Bonneville Racer: 1940 Ford 01A Deluxe Coupe

Image
As the year winds down to a close, I not only reflect on the year, but I look also to next year and the events lined up. For automotive enthusiasts, the offseason for cars is like an offseason for sports: nothing and so much going on at the same time. One of the big events many enthusiasts and racers are preparing for is Bonneville Speed Week; typically held at the end of August each year, the anticipation for Bonneville is always high, especially considering Bonneville has been rained out a few times over the past seven years. Featuring some Bonneville and dry lake racing pedigree is this 1940 Ford 01A Deluxe Coupe, which has been garaged since 1975. Find it here on Hemmings in Yuma, Arizona, with an asking price of $23,000 negotiable. After being used as a street car throughout the 1950s and 1960s, this Ford 01A Deluxe coupe was converted to a Bonneville and dry lakes racer in the early 1970s. Run through So-Cal and on the...

Brown Bomber: 1972 Ford Gran Torino Squire

As autumn enters the month of October, the work on classic vehicles slowly begins to shift from outdoors to indoors. For my family, the work outdoors continues, with my dad, my brother Kurt and I are working on repairing my brother's 1990 GMC K2500 and my dad's new 1997 GMC K2500 HD. By the time winter rolls around, work will shift to my dad's 1986 Corvette. For those still looking for a classic car to tinker on, looking outside of the box is a perfect way to score an interesting classic vehicle. This 1972 Ford Gran Torino Squire would be a perfect car to build up to one's desired look. Find it here on Craigslist in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with an asking price of $6,800, with trades for a 1999 or newer Dodge Cummins pickup or 1998-2002 Ford Powerstroke pickup considered. For 1972, the Torino was redesigned using many characteristics carried over from the previous generation. The 1972 Torino styling emphasize...
