Possibly a 1 of 1: 1964 Chevrolet K10 Three-Door Crew Cab

Back in 2011, I remember cracking open my freshly-purchased car book, The Corvette in the Barn, and reading about Don Prudhomme's recently restored Dodge D700 Crew Cab car hauler. After being enticed by its unusual crew-cab design, I decided to keep my eye out for vintage crew cab pickup trucks. This vintage crew cab is a 1964 Chevrolet K10, and is quite the rare sight today, considering it's reportedly a 1 of 1! Find it here on Craigslist somewhere in Nebraska with an asking price of $25,000.

Originally ordered for the local railroad in Nebraska, the railroad company decided that they didn't want the truck when it arrived at the dealership. The dealership in turn sold the truck to a local farmer. There is a bit of rust on both fenders below the fender badges and on the rocker panels, and there's a big dent in the pickup bed on the passenger side. The steel wheels without hubcaps look cool, and the blue color nicely complements the truck. I would address the rust, try to pop out the dent, and give this truck the proper restoration it deserves.

Underneath the hood of this K10 is a straight-six, but it is not known what size it is. Either a 230 or a 292 straight six rated at either 140 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque or 170 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, these straight-sixes are essentially bulletproof. Backed by a four-speed manual, the seller says the truck runs and drives good. Cosmetic condition looks pretty good, and that air conditioning compressor was added by the dealer back in 1964. I would make sure the A/C works, inspect the drivetrain, and leave the cosmetics untouched under the hood.

Well, this sight is definitely unexpected! Inside, this truck is in fairly decent condition, needing only a cleaning and some elbow grease. The under-dash A/C is cool and unusual, and I love the steering wheel and radio. I'm guessing the radio is an AM unit, so I would enhance it with modern components. Overall, this truck is a very unusual vehicle, and though in need of a restoration, I doubt one will find another one anywhere. A 1970 GMC K20 crew cab sold for $93,500 fully restored, and I'm sure this one is worth more fully restored. What are your thoughts on this rare Chevrolet K10 Crew Cab?
